OUR APPEAL

Dear Sir/Madam,

Greetings from The Association of People with Disability (APD)!

It's been 64 years since APD started working with underprivileged people with disability. It's been an amazing journey that has taught us much about the resilience of the human spirit.

Thanks to the donations of caring people like you, we are making steady progress in our mission to build an equal and inclusive world for people with disability. Till date, we have impacted the lives of 700,000+ children and adults with disability from the poorest sections of society. This has been possible only because of the support of our donors.

Take Anusha who is a Nursery teacher at the Shradhanjali Integrated School (SIS) at The Association of People with Disability (APD). She suffered a serious spinal cord injury at the age of seven. After completing her Diploma in Education, Anusha joined APD’s Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Rehabilitation Program where she received comprehensive treatment which equipped her to not only be independent but also allowed her to start teaching.

At APD, we’ve developed an effective SCI Rehabilitation Program that focuses on making Persons with Spinal Cord Injury (PwSCI) confident, contributing members of society. This involves intensive therapy, counseling, training, and multiple mobility aids to make them self-reliant. Rehabilitating one PwSCI requires approximately 50-60K INR.

Like our SCI Rehabilitation program we also run successful initiatives in Inclusive Education (for children with Disability), Livelihood, Mental Health and Mobility Aids & Appliances. (see Gallery).

The TCS W10K Run Marathon is an opportunity to raise funds for the rehabilitation of People with Disability. We invite you to run for those who can no longer have that simple pleasure and to be our Care Champion at the event.

We are most delighted to inform you that 50 Champions with Disability (group entry) and 50 staff will be participating in the TCS World 10K run 2024. The Race Day is 28th April 2024.

You can donate money for their rehabilitation or raise funds from your network of contacts.

Thank you for your support!

Yours sincerely,

APD Team

Inclusive Education for Children with Special Needs
Impacting the lives of thousands of children with disability and ensure comprehensive education for the overall development of a child, while building the capacity of various stakeholders. Creating an inclusive educational environment in schools by sensitising academic stakeholders on the needs of children with disabilities and equipping these children to study in mainstream schools.
Livelihood Support for People with Disability
Ensuring sustainable employment in the mainstream workforce for people with disabilities, particularly those who drop out from the formal educational systems and are ineligible for government or non-government programs. APD works to mobilize marginalized youth with disability, train them through formal and informal courses, and place them in jobs that are suitable to their qualification and ability.
