OUR APPEAL

Help Us Fight for Animal Rights in Court

Every day, animals across India suffer unimaginable cruelty – and FIAPO is taking these fights to court. And we urgently need your support.

Right now, we're fighting three critical legal battles:
Stopping Brutal Dog Fights
The losing dog whimpers and crouches on the ground, completely still, as Blackie, the ‘winning’ dog, tears into him. “Shabash, good boy, kaan pakad le,” shouts the owner, exhorting his dog to go in for the kill.
The fight that Blackie ‘won’ was captured in a video by FIAPO’s investigator in a district of Punjab. Similar scenes play out at every dog fight held in hidden farm-houses, basements, and garages in Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and even New Delhi. Breeds like Pitbull Terriers, Mastiffs, and Pakistani Bully Kuttas are brutally trained and forced to fight to the death.
FIAPO has filed a PIL to shut down this perverse sport that is illegal but that continues with impunity.

Protecting Captive Elephants
FIAPO has challenged the transfer of Ranjitha, a 40-year-old captive female elephant, from her green home near the forests of Jorhat in Assam to arid and water-scarce Sainik Farms in Delhi, a city with no history of keeping elephants in temples. Ranjitha’s transfer illustrates exactly how the Wild Life Protection (Amendment) Act 2022, in allowing the transfer and transport of elephants for religious and other purposes, is open to being misused to permit free “exchange” of elephants in the country.

Criminalising Animal Sexual Abuse
There's a dangerous gap in India's new criminal code that leaves animals vulnerable to sexual abuse. We're fighting to establish legal protections for animal victims, sparked by recent horrific cases that have gone unpunished.
