OUR APPEAL

Shaping Her Education (SHE)

Run for BREADS*,
Because SHE matters!

She is six. Or maybe twenty-one. Or in between. But she has a dream.

Of a future, different from her present.
In which, she is independent; her voice is heard, and she is free to live unhindered, even as a girl. Where she is no longer fettered by poverty, geography, or lack of opportunity.

We have a goal. To make 100 dreams come true.
By Shaping Her Education (SHE).
Because education powers her dream.

Run with BREADS, make her dream come true.
Because SHE truly deserves it!

Support 100 girls at INR 15,000 each and make 100 dreams real.

*Bangalore Rural Education And Development Society (BREADS) is the central development organisation of the Salesians of Don Bosco, reaching out to hundreds of thousands of marginalised children, youth, and communities, through its 48 partners across Karnataka and Kerala since 1993.

OUR PROJECTS

Help us raise funds for our specific needs.

Project
Description
Shaping Her Education ( SHE)
This project aims to provide education sponsorship for girl children coming from poor and marginalized communities and economically weaker families. This project aims to empower underprivileged children with education and create better opportunities for their future. The project will target girl children from the age group of 6 to 21 years from such background. The sponsorship will cover their school fees, books, uniforms, nutritious food, school bags, notebooks, and other necessary expenses for a one-year period. This project aims to make a difference in the lives of these children by providing them with a basic education that they might not be able to receive otherwise. Expected Outcomes for 100 underprivileged girls • Increased access to education for underprivileged girl children. • Improved academic performance of sponsored girl children. • Increased enrollment and retention rates in schools. • Empowered children who have the skills and knowledge to break the cycle of poverty. • Enhanced community awareness and involvement in the education of underprivileged children. Potential Long-Term Impact The project will change the lives of these children who are denied the right to education and childhood. The project would explicitly benefit 100 poor girl children in the slums and rural villages of Karnataka and Kerala states in India. The education of the girl children will change the community/family on a long-term basis. If we can educate a girl child, it will change society as a whole and will pave the way for a better future.

Bangalore Rural Educational and Developmental Society is a voluntary organization aiming at the transformation of the poor and the needy, as resources and agents of change through educative presence and accompaniment. It is the development office of Salesians of Don Bosco Bangalore Province, which is responsible for a better, systematic, and scientific presentation, promotion, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the socio-economic, cultural, technical, and development projects, both formal and non-formal.

BREADS is the central planning and development office of all Don Bosco Institutions/Organizations (BREADS Partners) spread across the two southern states namely Karnataka and Kerala. BREADS addresses the individual and community needs of the marginalised with a long-term vision.

One of its objectives is to facilitate citizenship and nation-building by empowering children and adults through education and skilling to become responsible citizens with access to their rights. Another focus area of BREADS involves climate concerns, including the promotion of sustainable agriculture, climate action, and clean energy. The achievement of the sustainable development goals aligns with these two broad areas of its work in tackling poverty by transforming the poor into agents of change in their own lives, using a rights-based approach
