OUR APPEAL

We are mainly focussing on 3 areas of Intervention

1. Jala Dhara - Rainwater Harvesting Projects

To Address the needs of High School Girl students dropping out of schools due to Insufficient availability of water in Government Schools EAB has initiated and implemented Rain Water Harvesting Projects since 2019 in Government Schools

2.Vanamahotsava

Vana Mahotsava or Afforestation or Greening of the countryside is a project that
is very dear to every member of EAB. There are several occasions when EAB
has taken up such projects and/or supported others in their efforts to do so

• EAB has partnered with state Forest department, Gramantara and Reforest
India for increasing the tree cover

• Plantations are provided to marginal and small farmers who have irrigation
facilities to ensure that the saplings that are given to them are nurtured well

3.Namma THOTA

A environment conscious project that will be established by EAB in Government schools and headed by the facilitator appointed by EAB, the facilitator will be charge of setting up school kitchen garden, greening the school and create awareness related to waste management

How will it benefit school?
● Planting native/endemic saplings in their school
● Vegetables used in their kitchen for preparation of Mid Day meals
● School will get a bio-registry (Documentation of flora & Fauna of their school)
● Children will prepare display posters in the school related to environment themes/issues
● Students will develop a sense of Biophilia or ‘love for nature’
● Children will come up with their very own ideas of nature protection
● Each school will present their learning through a fair/open house/Exhibition

Description

Jala Dhara - Rain Water Harvesting

Provision of Adequate water facilities especially in the Toilets and Washing area by Tapping specifically Roof Top Rain water and Harvesting the same Especially in Government schools where Girls miss classes and do not attend classes due to lack of adequate water supply . EAB provides solution after a proper assessment and thorough field study and assess their needs Also Bore well charging wherever needed is done to improve water yield . Adequate Storage facility is provisioned depending on each site requirement .

Namma Thota

Namma Thota-A environment conscious project that will be established by EAB in the schools of Rural Bangalore - Bangalore North .It shall be headed by the facilitator appointed by EAB, the facilitator will be charge of setting up school kitchen garden, greening the school and create awareness related to waste management. He will be carrying out these activities under the guidance of EAB and will be responsible for the execution of the project with the help of the school head master/mistress. The facilitator will nominate two student coordinators from each school who will be encouraging the children to participate in the project. 1.,Provide concept of Oota from Thota 2. Consume what you grow 3. Bio friendly and Organic Vegetables 4.Save costs

Project Description	PROVISION OF RAIN WATER HARVESTING FACILITY AND STORAGE AND FILTERING ARRANGEMENT. APPROX 400 PLUS CHILDREN IN BOTH SCHOOLS .
impact	IMPROVED ATTENDANCE IN GRILS SCHOOLS, ADDITIONAL STORAGE OF WATER COLLECTED FILTRATION OF WATER AND CAN BE USED FOR DRINKING WATER PURPOSES, CLEANING OF TOILETS REGULAR AND MORE HYGIENE MAINTAINED PROVISION OF WATER FOR KITCHEN GARDEN SUFFICIENT WATER FOR SCHOOL KITCHEN UTENSILS WASHING .

contributing towards the protection and preservation of environment
• Managed by Board of Directors and supported by 200+ extremely
talented members drawn from various sectors like Dept of Space, ISRO,
Forest Department, Universities, Academic Institutions, BMRDA, BBMP,
BWSSB, BDA and Environmentalists
• Expertise in planning and implementation of lake restorations and Rain
Water Harvesting
• Expertise in providing technical advise on Environmental Related
Issues of Bangalore, Hazardous Waste Management, Resurrection of
Lakes, Lake Management, Urban Waste Management, Water and Air
Pollution, Climate Change, Rain Water Harvesting, Space Applications in
Natural Resource Management and Solar Energy among others.
• Education on environment to school students through various initiatives
