The incidence of Cancer is on the rise and more than 50 % of the cases are detected at advanced stage in India. Early detection can improve the survival rates by 50 to 80 %.
Indian Cancer Society whose motto is “To be the beacon of hope against cancer” spreads the message that cancer is treatable and curable when detected early. ICS Bangalore is reaching thousands of under-privileged people in both, rural and urban Karnataka with free Awareness and Screening camps for early detection of Oral, Breast and Cervical cancer. We carry out anti-tobacco campaigns especially in High Schools and Colleges.
Besides, ICS provides a) financial assistance to low-income cancer patients through various hospitals across the state; b) Emotional counselling to patients and caregivers, and c) supplies free wigs and prostheses for those in the rehabilitation stage.

Indian Cancer Society, Bengaluru operates through a community of volunteers and is working towards bringing down the cancer incidence and mortality rates in the region through increased awareness levels, early detection and early intervention.
ICS's Bridge Fund programme provides initial (just after diagnosis) financial assistance to needy low-income group patients. We also provide emotional counseling, free wigs, breast prostheses and nutrition kits to help rebuild self-esteem of cancer survivors.
