OUR APPEAL

A big hello to you from Colours! Colours Centre for Learning is an NGO for Autism based in Bangalore. The prevalence of Autism has been increasing in India over the years. We are dedicated to the cause of Autism and have taken it upon ourselves to do it with a difference! Our centre provides education and skilling to Autistic individuals of all ages, which is unique to our organisation. Individuals who don’t stand a chance in mainstream schools are supported by our initiative and their families are instilled with hope for their future.

We follow an in-depth approach with a deep understanding of the needs of individuals on the spectrum and their family. Hence, we provide individual attention to each student and make sure that family members are involved with the development of the student for which we offer consistent and persistent counselling. We have been around for 8 years and since our inception in 2015 we have helped improve the lives of 30 students and their families. This is a big feat in the in the autism sector, as we have helped the student and their family to achieve holistic improvement - ranging from social behaviour to academic learning. We strongly believe that Autistic individuals of any age can be helped to go forward with our support and the support of their family towards the progress of the student.

In 2023 we have also begun the journey of supporting underprivileged children with special needs to attend classes at our centre. With this initiative we are taking further strides in our mission of enabling individuals with disabilities to live healthy, dignified and meaningful lives.

We hope you will extend a helping hand to support our efforts for the disabled community and aid in their sustained growth through our centre moving forward. In order to scale up our NGO and to kick start our venture further, we require support from you.

We really appreciate your time and support in making a positive change in the lives of the Autistic individuals and the disabled community at large. We request each of you coming across this fundraising campaign to please be considerate to supporting the cause and do your bit in helping us.

We will see at the Majja Run on May 21st where students and staff from our NGO will be participating.

Thank you!

OUR PROJECTS

Help us raise funds for our specific needs.

Project
Description
Support Skilling and Education of Underprivileged children with Special Needs
At Colours Centre for Learning, we recognise the need for individuals from underprivileged backgrounds with Special Needs to have a dedicated and caring environment that provides them with the support, consideration, education and training they need to live a dignified and meaningful life. In 2023 we have started an initiative to support underprivileged individuals with Special Needs by providing them with free education and skilling at our centre. This includes teaching them how to read, write, addressing their social skills and engaging them with all the other facilities at our centre. We have identified these individuals though our community outreach program and are off to a great start with this project. We are currently supporting 7 individuals under this initiative and hope to grow to larger numbers with your support.
Marginalized Communities Livelihood Program
At Colours Centre for Learning, beyond providing education and training, we are also focused on helping individuals with disabilities find and sustain their livelihoods to lead a dignified and meaningful life. We are developing art and computer skills in our students to help them gain employment or sustain a living through these skills. We are also working with 2 individuals from other marginalized communities and empowering them to gain a sustainable livelihood through this program. These individuals are trained to do Lippan art work amongst other creative skills. In order to reach out to more individuals from the marginalized sector and provide them with such opportunities, we require funding.
Support the Centre's Daily Activities to Help us be Sustainable
At Colours Centre for Learning we need support to sustain the day to day running of the centre. This includes support with administrative costs, funding for resources, maintenance of the physical campus and creating a covering on the terrace of the centre in order to provide more useable spaces for classes and training. We are currently trying to reach out and provide support to more students as well and in order to scale up and support underprivileged individuals, we also need more resources, staff and facilities. In order to accommodate more students in the centre and provide a safe space for them to learn, we need to renovate our terrace now. This will help us provide a safe space for our students to do their daily activities with minimal challenges. We need to build a covered space, which includes paneling on the sides of the terrace boundary wall and as well as a covering above our heads. This will help us to work efficiently even during extreme weather conditions.
Robotics Innovation Lab
This project will be conducted with the help of Tata Edge, Think Edge programs. The Think Edge Programs leverage cutting-edge technology, data analytics, and personalized content to provide a transformative learning experience. Think Edge offering will set up a dedicated AI & Robotics Lab which will aim to create an ecosystem to foster learning, creativity, and innovation in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Robotics. The holistic AI & Robotics Lab will be fully equipped with reusable student friendly educational kits & demo projects with strong focus on experiential learning for Coding, Robotics & AI. Thus by bringing these programs to the curriculum we can enhance the employability of the autistic individuals and also ensure they are introduced to latest technological advancement.

Colours Learning Education Trust (CLET), an NGO, is running Colours Centre for Learning (CCFL) devoted to the cause of Autism and it aims to provide a safe, conducive and holistic learning environment for autistic individuals. The founders observed that many autistic individuals, while bright, struggled to cope with mainstream education systems including special schools. There was a dearth of tailored systems of learning for individuals on the spectrum and hence CLET was formed to address these factors. Our USP, we provide individual attention to each student while also making sure that the family members are involved in the development of the individual for which we offer consistent and persistent counseling. Colours is transparent and allows guardians to check on the classes, if they wish to do so. We also support individuals of varied age groups with programmes that are specially designed based on one’s strengths, triggers and challenges. The programmes that we offer are art, special education, computers, sports, yoga, dance, music, drama and pottery that helps them to reach the best of their abilities.
We use in house researched technique, Dynamic Behaviour Therapy (DBT), which has helped our students to realize their potential in a consistent manner.
