OUR APPEAL

Your support will directly impact 200 children from 3 urban poor communities, giving them the chance to learn, grow, and thrive. Our program nurtures not just academic learning but also emotional, social, and creative development through STEM, art, storytelling, and life skills. We create safe, vibrant spaces and work closely with families and communities to ensure lasting impact.

We’re currently seeking support to provide children with enriching exposure, like adventure camps, educational visits, and sessions with inspiring mentors from fields like dance, taekwondo, wildlife, theatre, and STEM. These experiences expand horizons, build confidence, and spark dreams.

With your help, we can make these opportunities a reality and empower every child to dream big.

Project
Description
Holistic Education for 200 Children in Urban Poor Communities
Your support will directly impact 200 children from 3 urban poor communities who deserve the chance to learn, grow, and thrive. Our program focuses on the holistic development of each child—nurturing not just academic progress but also their emotional, social, and creative growth. We integrate STEM learning to ignite curiosity, offer exposure to new experiences that broaden their horizons, and create safe, vibrant, and child-friendly learning spaces that inspire confidence. Children are supported through activity-based foundational learning in literacy and numeracy, encouraged to express themselves through art and storytelling, and guided to build essential life skills and emotional resilience. To ensure sustainable impact, we also engage parents and the wider community to become active contributors in every child’s journey. Together, this approach helps children overcome barriers, stay connected to their dreams, and move toward a future filled with purpose and possibility. We are currently seeking support to provide rich and varied exposure opportunities for these children—such as adventure or outbound camps, visits to places of interest, and sessions with inspiring resource persons including dance teachers, taekwondo coaches, wildlife experts, theatre artists, and STEM educators. These experiences play a vital role in expanding children’s horizons, building confidence, and sparking aspirations for a brighter future. Your contribution will help bring these opportunities to life—and give every child the chance to dream big and thrive.

We, Makkala Jagriti, are a nonprofit organization dedicated to the holistic education and empowerment of children and youth from marginalized communities in India. Founded in 2003, through our focus of “From School Ready to Life Ready”, we have been able to create a significant impact by integrating our holistic development model within the Anganwadis (0 to 6 years), Government Schools (6 to 14 years), Child Care homes and Youth (15 years plus) in the slum communities. We partner with Government Schools and Anganwadis, and work within communities to enhance the quality of education, life skills, and socio-emotional development. Recognized for our impactful work, we have received several accolades, including the HCLTech Grant in 2024 and the CSR Impact Award 2022. We operate across 13 districts in Karnataka and our impact till date has reached over 90,000 children and youth across 950+ Anganwadis, 100+ Government Schools, 27 Child Care Institutions and 25+ Urban poor communities.
