Managing T1D is a lifelong challenge requiring specialized medical attention & care, creating significant emotional, mental and financial burdens on individuals and families. The financial burden on families from the marginal sections of the society is immense. In addition to the cost of the medicines, the cost of providing counselling, medical care is significant. The estimated cost per annum per child is about Rs. 30,000. T1D is currently not covered by health insurance in India.

SAMATVAM Trust is a specialist clinic at treating and managing children with Type1 diabetes and related endocrine metabolic disorders. Our goal is to provide healthcare of highest possible quality to the maximum number of children, youth & adults - to foster humane, honest and holistic health care. SAMATVAM was formed in the year 1995 by Dr. S. Srikanta - distinguished endocrinologist from AIIMS, Delhi & Joslin Medical Centre, Harvard. Samatvam has provided free Type-1 diabetic care for over 5000 children & youth over the last 3 decades. SAMATVAM has also provided free care for over 1.5 Lakhs individuals with Type 2 diabetes. SAMATVAM is based in JP Nagar in Bangalore.
