HELLO

OUR APPEAL

Since its inception, PETA India has worked to expose hidden horrors, rescue sensitive individuals from unfathomable suffering, and push for change. Our educational campaigns build empathy among future generations of leaders, and our free resources help people make cruelty-free choices about what they eat, wear, and more. But the mission is far from over, and we need your help as we work to end animal suffering.

As a charity, PETA India depends on the support of kind people to carry out our life-changing work, including emergency rescues. We always have more opportunities to help animals than we do financial resources. You can help!

Your kindness today will help build a more compassionate future. Together, we can make a real difference in the lives of countless animals.

Description
PETA India’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) programme
Funds raised will support PETA India’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) programme. Trained emergency rescue staff answer calls 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, responding to more than 90,000 calls a year. The team reaches animals who no other organisation is willing to help, assisting them through a robust network of dedicated agencies and individuals. Calls in the last year involved helping dogs, cats, cows, bullocks, camels, horses, donkeys, monkeys, and other animals. More than 3000 cases required animals to be treated by the ERT. Over 300 animals were treated for minor conditions on the spot and immediately released, and 151 required hospitalisation. More than 2600 calls reported abuse that required cruelty investigations and responses, including the registration of first information reports. PETA India also sterilises homeless cats to prevent the birth of more kittens doomed to a miserable life on the streets.

Launched in January 2000, PETA India operates under the simple principle that animals are not ours to experiment on, eat, wear, use for entertainment, or abuse in any other way. We advance this mission, in part, by informing policymakers and the public about animal rights issues and promoting an understanding of the inherent rights of animals.

PETA India focuses primarily on the areas in which the greatest number of animals suffer: for experiments, food, clothing, and entertainment such as being forced to give rides to tourists. Our investigations and groundbreaking exposés, public education initiatives, research, animal rescues, legislative work, celebrity involvement, and national media coverage have helped save countless animals and improved the quality of life of many others.
