Support organ transplant for non-affordable patients waiting to get new lease of life

Organ donations, undoubtedly, save lives across all gender, caste, and religious boundaries in India. However, the exorbitant cost of organ transplants, especially in the private healthcare sector, makes them out of reach for many. With liver and heart transplants costing between Rs. 20 to 25 lakhs and even kidney transplants ranging from Rs. 8 to 10 lakhs, these life-saving procedures remain unaffordable for the majority of people. In fact, over 95% of organ donation and transplantation activities in India are concentrated in the private sector, leaving public hospitals few and far between. This stark economic divide leaves the disadvantaged populations particularly vulnerable, unable to access essential medical care. To address this challenge, urgent action is needed to make organ transplants more affordable, with NGOs playing a pivotal role in bridging this gap until government intervention comes into play. MOHAN Foundation's 'Anudaan - Making Transplants Affordable' initiative is at the forefront of this effort. Through Anudaan, we are helping economically disadvantaged patients by providing critical financial assistance, making organ transplants accessible to all. To date, the Foundation has supported 88 transplant cases through Anudaan, ensuring that patients receive the vital treatments they need. Here's the breakdown: Heart Transplants: 2, Kidney Transplants: 20, Liver Transplants: 54, Corneal Transplants: 12 Paediatric Cases: 48 children supported With your support, we can continue to save more lives, especially of children and as they go on to lead productive lives, uplifting the entire families and contributing to nation building.
