OUR APPEAL

Child Rights and You (CRY) is a 44-year-old non-profit organization that works to create happier childhoods for children in India. We focus on education, health, nutrition, and the protection of children through our 102 projects spread across 19 states. Our core belief is that every child deserves a fair chance at education, regardless of gender, caste, or economic background. Therefore, we bring about lasting change for India's children by educating parents, teachers, communities, and children themselves, leading to positive changes in behavior and practices at the grassroots level.

In our current campaign CRY aims to help these children reconnect to education by tracking, assessing, and providing support through initiatives like -

# Digital Learning Centres - focuses on digital skills training, interactive learning, and boosting confidence among adolescents (14-18 years) for better education and life prospects.
# STEM education - aims to replace rote learning with problem-solving skills and help build a strong base for the academic future
# Child Activity Centres - Smart Class facilities at these centres offer children exposure to modern learning techniques and help them reintegrate into the formal education system

Project
Description
Education support to children living in urban slums
Metropolitan cities across India are witnessing the alarming trends of children dropping out of school. Engaging in child labor, and entering early marriages are becoming increasingly evident. Despite the economic growth and modernization in these urban areas, these issues persist, fuelled by socio-economic disparities and systemic challenges. The correlation between education and the reduction of early marriage and child labor in India is well-documented. Education is one of the most effective strategies to protect children and combat child labor and early marriage. Children who stay in school are less likely to enter the workforce prematurely and more likely to gain skills that enhance their future employability. By keeping children in school, communities can break the intergenerational cycle of poverty and reduce reliance on child labor. The increase in the Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) of girls in primary and upper primary levels, as reported by UDISE+, also indicates that girls staying in school, reduce the prospect of early marriage. The program focuses on engaging simultaneously with the beneficiary children, the community, and the stakeholders at various government institutions to not only protect and provide the necessary support to the children but also successfully create a positive and conducive environment in which the children can learn and grow to realize their potential.
