Every year, about 60,000 young orphans are forced to leave childcare institutions when they turn 18 and face an uncertain world, without any place to live or any means of employment.
At WeLive Foundation, we are dedicated to addressing the immediate needs of care leavers—Young people suddenly confronted with an unfamiliar world as they exit their long-time residences upon turning 18. This abrupt change frequently leaves them ill-equipped for the journey ahead, jeopardizing the progress fostered by their earlier institutional care. WeLive intervenes here, by facilitating the Well-being and Work Readiness for Young People through our Bridge Programs; Some of the key interventions are:
• Providing support and guidance to young people leaving care institutions upon reaching adulthood
• Focus on employability and emotional support towards making young people become independent
• Access to mental health counsellors, deaddiction support, and safe spaces for individuals to grow.
WeLive Foundation is helping in the following two UN Sustainability Development Goals.
SDG3 : Good Health & Well Being
SDG8 : Decent Work and Economic Growth
Significant achievements of 2024 (with your support):
• Three centres (two in Bengaluru and one in Chennai) are functioning very well – two for Women YP’s and one for the men.
• Focus on financial literacy has yielded results for our YP’s (Young People) – with average SIP savings being in the range of INR 2500 per month
• Increase in the number of YP’s joining NIOS (for 10th /12th) and College education
• Focused sessions on Mental Wellbeing and physical health
I would strongly urge you to contribute to this cause. For every rupee donated by you, I will personally match that amount.
